Welcome to Wellness Wednesday, a weekly blog series with the mission to cultivate and inspire people to achieve optimal wellness for their mind and body. While many often measure wellness by purely physical attributes, mental and emotional health qualities are equally important to measure, tend to, and nurture. The mind and body are one in the same, and thus deserve to be addressed as such. Our minds influence how our bodies navigate and interact throughout our various environments, and the quality of our physical health impacts how we feel emotionally, not just about ourselves but also about the relationships we have with the world around us.
The National Wellness Institute (NWI) defines wellness as “an active process through which people become aware of, and make choices toward, a more successful existence,” that expands into six dimensions: emotional, occupational, physical, social, spiritual and intellectual elements. No wonder trying to achieve optimal wellness is so complex! While we all wish optimal health and wellness could arrive as quickly as Prime 2-day shipping, it’s not that simple. It’s a daily practice of choices we make that evolve over time. My hope is that we can do this together, over the course of these weekly posts, so that this daunting task whole body health will feel less burdensome and instead leave you feeling empowered and curious to keep seeking more. There will be a variety of topics presented (but not limited to): injury prevention, mobility/strengthening, mindfulness, nutrition, and many more!
I know we all have a lot we’re trying to juggle and accomplish each day. My hats are off to you, and I’m right there with you in solidarity. Therefore, my plan is to keep these posts on the shorter, more digestible end. You know, quality over quantity – sound good? Thank you for being here, for choosing to show up with me, and for being willing to learn with me. I’m excited to share this journey together!
