What is Pilates?

Pilates is an exercise program designed to restore the natural curves of the spine and balance the muscles surrounding the joints of the body. At Pieton Physical Therapy and Pilates, Christine uses a contemporary and anatomically based approach to the original mind-body method pioneered by Joseph Pilates. She emphasizes pelvic and scapular stabilization while simultaneously integrating whole body movement. This technique allows for exercises to be appropriately tailored for all body types and abilities, enabling sport-specific programs, as well as those designed for everyday life.

What makes Pieton Physical Therapy & Pilates unique?

No two bodies are the same. Christine believes each individual deserves a program specifically tailored to meet his or her needs and wellness goals. Her complementary blend of physical therapy and Pilates knowledge provides clients with a unique opportunity to understand how and why their body’s move the way they do. Through this integrative approach, clients are able to learn proper movement patterns and translate such efficiencies into their day-to-day activities.

  • “I have been studying Pilates with Christine for nearly two years. I studied with multiple instructors prior to the lucky day I was introduced to Christine! With numerous injuries stemming from my former career as a ballet dancer, it was imperative for me to train with someone who not only teaches Pilates well, but understands how to work around my fragile body. Christine is incredibly thoughtful, resourceful, smart and compassionate. Her classes move seamlessly and are never the same. Every session is well rounded, and no matter what is hurting me that day, she finds a way to create a comprehensive class while working around my injuries. Christine’s studio is quiet and private and the parking is easy. I love that.”
